February 5, 2016 - New York Tribeca Crane Accident
On February 5, 2016 a 565-foot boom collapsed in high winds in Tribeca, NY as workers rushed to lower it. The accident killed one and seriously injured two others. Tom Barth, a crane operator, consultant and accident investigator, was contacted by many newspapers, radio stations and television stations from the U.S. and Canada to offer his insight on the accident and crane safety.
Tom is featured in a 10-minute podcast on the Larry Fedoruk Show Newstalk 610 in Ontario, Canada that focuses on the crane accident in Tribeca.
Tom asked to comment in an ABC news Channel 7 story and video by Jim Hoffer looking into the Tribeca, NY accident.
On the same date, the accident triggered a Reuters news story on New York crane safety where Tom was asked to provide some insight.
New York's Newsday also called on Tom in an article headlined, "Official: NYC crane collapse being probed."
In a Channel 4 NBC report, "I-Team: After Deadly Collapse, Inspectors Deployed to Every Crawler Crane Across NYC," Tom was asked a number of questions about crane safety.
Tom discussed crane safety with a Chicago News station.

Tom appears on ABC Channel 7 in New York about a on crane accident where a large air conditioning unit was being moved into a building and the rigging failed. The air conditioner fell 28 stories to the ground.
